Woman Fights Off Juvenile Attackers, Gets Stolen Money Back

Three juveniles assaulted and robbed a woman at a Palm Springs bus stop, but she fought off her attackers and got her money back, police said today.

The 59-year-old woman was watching over her friend’s belongings about 6:40 p.m. Tuesday at the bus stop on Rosa Parks Road near Indian Canyon Drive when the boys took the items, according to Palm Springs Officer Rhonda Long.

“She offered to pay them $5 for the property back,” Long said. “They saw she had more money.”

The boys punched her in the face and took $20, the officer said.

“She fought with them and got her money back,” Long said.

The woman did not report the robbery until several hours later, when she got to Roy’s Desert Resource Center, she said.
