Temperatures Dip To Below Freezing In Some Areas
Below freezing temperatures were registered this morning across the Antelope Valley and at some locations in the San Gabriel Mountains, while lows in downtown Los Angeles were above 40 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
Lows north of the mountains in Los Angeles County just before 5 a.m. today included 20 in Lancaster, 21 in Palmdale and 22 at Edwards Air Force Base, according to the Weather Service.
At Mount Wilson the low just before 5 a.m. was 28 degrees, while it was 41 in Burbank, 43 in downtown Los Angeles, and 47 in Van Nuys, according to the Weather Service.
In Orange County, a low of 38 was measured in Santa Ana before 5 a.m., and it was 48 at John Wayne Airport and at Lake Forest.
The lowest temperature readings available in Southern California early today were 6 degrees at Baldwin Lake, east of Big Bear Lake, 9 degrees at Big Bear Airport, and 12 degrees in Wrightwood in the east San Gabriel Mountains.
A freeze warning is in effect for the Antelope Valley and other areas until 9 a.m. today. Another freeze warning has been issued for vulnerable areas from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday.
