Snow, Rain Make For Tough Trip Home From Holiday
Riverside County residents returning home from their holiday weekend may face snow and gusty winds, especially in the Cajon Pass area of Interstate 15, the National Weather Service advised today.
A cold front approaching Southern California will bring snow tonight above 5,500 feet in Inland Empire mountains. Snow could fall as low as the 4,000-foot elevation level — and that includes Cajon Pass, on busy Interstate 15 between Las Vegas and Southern California.

The storm was forecast to bring up to two inches of snow in higher mountains, but is likely to bring only slushy conditions to the Cajon Pass, said Meteorologist James Thomas of the National Weather Service.
However, drivers will also face winds blowing from 25 to 40 mph with gusts of up to 60 mph in the pass area, Thomas said.
“It will be mostly slushy snow, flurries and gusty winds,” he said. “There will be some blowing snow, but we don’t believe we will have white-out conditions.”
Further west, the Grapevine section of Interstate 5 north of Los Angeles may see snow closures or delays on Sunday, forecasters in Oxnard said.
A strong wind watch was forecasted for San Bernardino and Riverside county mountains, passes, and the Coachella Valley area starting at 8 p.m. tonight and lasting through 6 a.m. Sunday, Thomas said.
