Northbound Indian Canyon Re-Opens Following Deadly Accident

North Indian Canyon Drive was closed down for most of Wednesday after a woman was hit and killed by a runaway trailer, police said.

Maria Herminia Quinones-Medrano, 47, of Desert Hot Springs, was traveling northbound around 7:20 a.m. when a flatbed truck’s trailer became disconnected and slammed into the woman’s car.

North Indian was closed between West Tramview Road and Garnet Avenue.

Police investigators were trying to determine what caused the trailer to become unhitched,
