Palm Springs Fire Chief Steps Down

Palm Springs city leaders announced Fire Chief Blake Goetz will retire at the end of the year.

Goetz served the city for 33 years, joining the fire department in 1977 and promoted to fire chief in 2004.

Under his leadership, the city developed its Community Emergency Response Team for earthquake preparedness.

The city council will honor Goetz’s accomplishments at their meeting on December 15.

Deputy Fire Chief Scott Ventura will replace Goetz, City Manager David Ready said in a news release.
