Strange Smell Sends Two Elementary School Staff Members To Hospital
A total of twelve people were overcome by some kind of odor at Saul Martinez Elementary School in Mecca on Wednesday, sending two to the hospital.
Cal Fire officials told News Channel 3 the two sent to the hospital were adults, but the ten others sickened were a mixture of adults and children.
Initial reports said only three people had fallen ill.
Because the unusual strong smell is coming from outside, all students and staff were being kept inside the building at this time as crews try to find the source of the odor.
The superintendent’s office told News Channel 3 school will be in session on Thursday, Dec. 16, unless they are notified otherwise by Cal Fire or the health department.
