Fourteen Students Arrested At Palm Desert High School
Fourteen students at Palm Desert High School were arrested on Thursday morning after an undercover investigation conducted by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and Palm Desert Police Department.
In a media alert sent out Thursday afternoon, detectives said they seized various illegal narcotics during their investigation on campus, including marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy and prescription drugs.
“It was very low key,” said Desert Sands Unified School District Security Director Jeff Kaye. “They knew who they were looking for. They took the suspects out of class, there was no disruption to the school activities. They were in and out in 10 minutes.”
All of the students were under 18, according to the sheriff’s department, so their names were not released. They were taken to Indio Juvenile Hall, where they were booked on various drug related charges.
Several agencies helped the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department with Thursday’s arrests, including the Coachella Valley Narcotics Task Force, the Palm Springs Narcotics Task Force, the Southwest Corridor Narcotics Task Force and the West Count Narcotics Task Force.
