California Highway Patrol Juggles Collisions, Water Rescues And More During Storm

Two days into a fierce December storm, and the California Highway Patrol already has their work cut out for them.

From midnight, December 20, 2010 through 8:00 a.m. December 21, 2010 CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters responded to 495 calls for service including:

63 traffic collisions

24 residential flooding calls

8 water rescues (total of 13 victims rescued)

These numbers are expected to increase as heavy rainfall continues through tomorrow.

Motorists are urged to use extreme caution when driving on flooded roadways and obey road closure barricades. These are in place for your safety and the safety of emergency responders.
