Heavy Rains Flood Homes In Thousand Palms

Due to heavy over-night rains some people living on Via Eduardo Road in Thousand Palms woke up Wednesday to up to a foot of water in their homes.

All toll four of the twenty-four homes on the dirt road suffered some form of flooding. It could have have been much worse had neighbors not banded together. “There was like five of out here at five in the morning. We were sandbagging up and we barricaded this off. I mean it was flowing through here like a river,” said Robert Troke who had about two inches of water get into his residence.

Since Via Eduardo sits low off Ramon Road, it’s prone to flooding in heavy rains. According to Albert Pimentel who lives at the end of Via Eduardo, about 5 years ago eight homes were flooded. Pimentel plans to see if his neighbors will pitch-in on the cost so a concrete berm can be built on Ramon Road to keep the water out.
