Man Killed In Motorcycle Accident In Palm Desert

Authorities today released the name of a motorcyclist who was fatally injured in a collision when he failed to stop at a traffic signal in Palm Desert.

Michael John Barrett, 43, of Cathedral City died at a hospital following the Sunday night collision at the intersection of Country Club Drive and Portola Avenue, according to the county coroner’s office.

Barrett was westbound on Country Club Drive when he failed to stop at a red light and struck a vehicle, Sgt. Mike Blanco said.

The cyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from his motorcycle, Blanco said.

The other driver was taken to Eisenhower Medical Center with non-life- threatening injuries, Blanco said.
