Investigation Into Lohan’s Betty Ford Center Tiff Not Over

Riverside County Sheriff’s detectives were continuing their probe into Lindsay Lohan’s alleged tiff with an employee at the Betty Ford Center, even though an attorney for the now-fired employee said his client does not want to pursue an assault charge.

Dawn Holland, a technician at the world-famous addiction treatment center, told law enforcement officers that Lohan pushed her and hurt her wrist, initially asking that she be charged. But her attorney, Keith Davidson, later told news outlets his client no longer wanted to see the actress punished.

“She no longer wishes to cooperate with authorities in Palm Desert or Los Angeles,” Davidson said. “She wishes Ms. Lohan the best in recovery. Dawn Holland is a recovering addict herself.”

Herlinda Valenzuela of Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said she was unaware that Holland did not want to cooperate.

“It’s being investigated, regardless,” she said. “We have not received any type of confirmation from the victim on whether or not she intends to drop the charges.”

The investigation, begun last week, should take about two weeks, Valenzuela said. Lohan is on probation, and any criminal charge could send her to jail.

The Dec. 12 run-in occurred just after 1 a.m. when Lohan returned to the treatment center after curfew and refused Holland’s request to take a Breathalyzer test. The two argued, with Lohan cursing, then calling 911. Holland said when she picked up a phone to talk to the dispatcher herself, Lohan ripped it away, injuring her wrist. Holland said Lohan also pushed her in a confrontation before the phone call.

Holland was fired by the Betty Ford Center last week because she talked about what happened. A treatment center spokesman said she violated medical confidentiality requirements.

Davidson told news outlets that Holland may sue the center for wrongful termination, because she did nothing wrong but discuss the police report.

In September, Lohan failed a court-ordered drug test and was first sent to jail, then the Betty Ford Center. She could be released a week from today. Lohan’s next court hearing is Feb. 25.
