Four Palm Springs High School Students Injured In Farrell Drive Accident
Four students from Palm Springs High School and a 66-year-old woman were injured in a 2-car crash on Farrell Drive on Friday afternoon.
The crash happened at 12:45 p.m. on the 500 block of South Farrell Drive, according to Palm Springs Police Sgt. Melissa Desmarais.
Officers arrived on the scene and found a silver Chevrolet Colbalt, which had been driven by a 17-year-old had been traveling south on Farrell when he lost control of his car, weaved across four lanes of traffic, and crashed into an on-coming vehicle driven by the woman.
All four occupants of the Chevrolet, who were high school basketball and soccer players, and the driver of the Chrysler were transported to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Two of the occupants of the Chevrolet were extricated by the Palm Springs Fire Department using the Jaws of Life.
News Channel 3 confirmed Friday night’s games were going on as planned.
The northbound lanes of Farrell Drive remained closed for over an hour as emergency personnel worked to attend to the injured parties and clear the roadway of vehicles and debris.
