Police Search For Hit And Run Suspect In Desert Hot Springs
Desert Hot Springs police, assisted by a California Highway Patrol helicopter, launched a massive search for the driver of a car who caused a head-on collision on Sunday night, injuring two people.
The collision happened at 6 p.m. on N. Indian Drive near 14th Ave, according to CHP Officer John Quintero.
He said a 2005 Nissan Sentra, carrying two people, was traveling southbound on N. Indian Canyon Dr. approaching 14th Ave., at approximately 58 miles-per-hour.
An unknown driver was driving a 1993 silver Saturn northbound on N. Indian Canyon Dr. at a speed of approximately 55 miles-per-hour, and for unknown reasons drifted into the southbound lane, hitting rhe Sentra head-on.
Both the driver and passenger of the Sentra were transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs for treatment of their injuries.
The driver of the Saturn ran off into the open desert, which launched a search of the area. Authorities were not able to find him.
