Ex-Wife Of Slain Iggy Pop Drummer Offers Reward To Capture Killer

The ex-wife of a former Iggy Pop drummer killed in a Cathedral City hit-and-run accident is offering a reward for information leading to the capture of the driver.

The crash happened on a Thursday night last month along Date Palm Drive near Gerald Ford.

Tracy Kirst said her ex-husband, Alex Kirst, 47, was crossing the street, when authorities said a white SUV, now with a broken passenger side headlight, hit him.

Almost a month later, the driver is still at-large and now Tracy Kirst is asking the public to help find the killer.

“I was incredibly shocked and very, very sad,” she said. “We have two children together, so that was really devastating to know that I would have to tell them about this happened.”

The Kirsts were married for 18 years.

Although they have been separated for the past eight years, Tracy still holds Alex dear to her heart.

Alex played with Iggy Pop from the mid-90s to the early 2000s.

“Actually, Alex’s brother has played guitar with Iggy for many, many years,” she said. “So, obviously this is very devastating for him as well.”

Alex Kirst was living in Cathedral City, but last month, while crossing the street, authorities said a white, or light colored 2000 to 2006 Chevy Tahoe or Yukon hit and killed him.

“I was told that its against the law to hit a dog and leave it by the side of the road,” she said “So, if that’s clearly not ok, then how could it possibly be ok to do that to another human?”

Tracy lives in Northern California but is flying to the Southland on Saturday to hold a news conference in Cathedral City to announce a privately funded reward being offered to help catch the driver.

More than $13,000 will be given to anyone who provides information that helps lead to the apprehension and conviction of the driver responsible for her ex-husband’s death.

“We know somebody knows they did it and we figure that somebody probably knows that person that did it, and we’re hoping that with an incentive of a substantial reward, that they will be able to get somebody to come forward with information that can help the police,” she said.

Call the Cathedral City police with any information that could help solve this crime.

Tracy Kirst is also asking the public to pledge to donate money and increase the reward.
