Human Rights Campaign Opens ‘Pop Up’ Store In Palm Springs

Touted as the nation’s largest group advocating civil rights for gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender people, the Human Rights Campaign opened what it calls as “pop up” Action Center in downtown Palm Springs, on Wednesday.

The new store will offer merchandise and information to help spread the goals and messages of the organization.

Retired Marine Staff Sergeant Eric Alva spoke at Wednesday’s grand opening.

He served at the base in Twentynine Palms and is a national advocate for the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”

The HRC is also partnering with the Desert AIDS Project to help continue to offer free HIV testing.

The Palm Springs location is the fourth in the entire nation.

It will remain open through Memorial Day Weekend.
