Two Vehicles, Big Rig Involved In Palm Desert I-10 Accident

At least one person was injured today when a tire blew on a freeway in Thousand Palms, causing a three-vehicle accident, a Cal Fire spokeswoman said.

The crash occurred shortly after noon on eastbound Interstate 10, near the Monterey Avenue exit, said Jody Hagemann of Cal Fire.

The crash involved a big rig, small car and a pickup truck, said Officer Donavan Rice of the California Highway Patrol.

One person was injured in the crash and a second had to be extricated from a vehicle, but it is unclear whether that person was injured.

“It looks like somebody had a blowout and got tangled up with someone else,” Rice said.
