Palm Springs Officer’s Girlfriend Found Alive In Arizona

A Palm Springs police lieutenant accused of assaulting and kidnapping his girlfriend was expected to be released from jail, pending further investigation, after the woman was found safe Saturday afternoon in Arizona, police said.

Abraham Tokier, 50, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of spousal abuse and kidnapping Dawn Foster, 37, of Cathedral City.

Foster was found around 1:30 p.m. Saturday in a mobile home at an RV resort in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, said Lt. Charles Robinson of the Cathedral City Police Department.

“Foster was discovered alive and well inside the mobile home,” Robinson said. He also stated that the mobile home belongs to Tokier.

“Dawn Foster was uncooperative in providing information in the ongoing investigation involving Abraham Tokier for domestic violence,” Robinson said. “Based on the current status of this investigation, Abraham Tokier will be released from custody … pending further investigation.”

Foster told authorities in Arizona she was surprised anyone was looking for her, and she was released after being questioned.

The alleged domestic violence occurred Feb. 23 outside a residence in the 68800 block of Panorama Road in Cathedral City.

Tokier is married to another woman, but he and Foster were the only ones fighting, according to police.

After the incident, police sought Tokier for questioning, and believed he and Foster went to Lake Havasu and Bullhead City, Arizona.

Tokier was put on paid leave Feb. 25, said Palm Springs police Capt. Dennis Graham, who called the issue a “personnel matter.”

Tokier was jailed in the Robert Presley Detention Center in lieu of $500,000 bail and was scheduled to be arraigned as early as Monday.

As of 9 p.m., Tokier had not been released, according to an official at the county jail. He is currently being processed and should be released soon.
