Gene Autry, Palm Drive Interchange Closed For Construction
The eastbound on-ramp at the Palm Drive/Gene Autry Trail freeway interchange will be closed today for work on the Coachella Valley Corridor Improvement Project, officials said.
Vehicles won’t be allowed on the interchange from 4 p.m. today through 4 a.m. Wednesday. It also will be closed from 4 p.m. Wednesday to 4 a.m. Thursday, Caltrans spokeswoman Kathy Boltz said.
The on-ramp to Interstate 10 will be shut down to allow for workers to install drainage systems, Boltz said.
The suggested detour is for motorists to enter eastbound Interstate 10 at the Date Palm Drive interchange southeast of the construction site.
Work was scheduled to begin Monday afternoon, but was postponed because of the powerful winds that blew through the Palm Springs area all day long.
