Winds Delay, Cancel Some Flights Out Of Palm Springs

Monday’s high winds caused a few headaches for some passengers flying out of the Palm Springs International Airport.

As of 4 p.m., 3 American Airlines flights had been canceled and 4 other flights with other airlines were delayed, according to the airport’s website.

One passenger who was supposed to leave Palm Springs tweeted, “Palm Springs gate 7. Terminal erupts as plane tries to land in gail force winds. Comes w/in feet…then diverts LA. Funny, but that’s my jet.”

Another tweeted, “The high winds in Palm Springs diverted us to Ontario. The longest travel day ever keeps on rockin’.”

And one more, “well Ontario actually. Will be boarding a bus to Palm Springs. The glamour of trvl!”

Airport spokesman Tom Nolan said it’s up to the pilot and flight crew to determine if take-off is safe. The airport remains open for business.

His advice is to check with your carrier before you leave for the airport.
