Women’s Main Draw At BNP Paribas

Main draw women’s play begins today in the BNP Paribas Open at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, with American Melanie Oudin, a 2009 U.S. Open quarterfinalist, among the players set to play.

The 19-year-old Oudin will face Russian Elena Vesnina. Oudin is 84th on the Women’s Tennis Association rankings, 26 spots behind Vesnina. The two players have met twice, with Vesnina winning both times.

All 32 seeded players have first-round byes.

Men’s qualifying play concludes today.
