CHP Officer Injured After Patrol Car Hit By SUV

An officer with the California Highway Patrol was slightly injured on Thursday morning when an SUV hit her parked patrol car, said CHP spokesman Ramon Perez.

The accident happened around 8:30 a.m. as Officer Stephanie Hamilton was completing a traffic stop on Harrison Street, south of Avenue 66.

She told investigators a 2008 Toyota SUV traveling northbound on Harrison drifted across the roadway, hitting the patrol car.

The SUV driver, Linda Dominguez, 34, of Coachella, and Offc. Hamilton were both treated at the scene for minor injuries, according to Perez.

Investigators were trying to determine the cause of the crash; no arrests have been made.
