Coachella Fest Goes High-Tech With New Wristbands

Concert-goers attending the 2011 Coachella Music and Arts Festival will have to pass new hurdles when it comes to security when the event opens April 15.

Those who purchased their tickets online began receiving their new electronic wristbands in the mail, this week. The wristbands contain a number of advanced state of the art security features, according to Coachella Fest organizers. Each person’s right hand will be scanned before they’re permitted inside the Empire Polo Grounds.

But the security doesn’t stop there.

This year, no one within a one mile radius of the grounds will be permitted to go any farther if they do not have one of the wrist bands. Police checkpoints will be set up to make sure everyone in each car has the wristbands on.
