Coachella Valley Gas Prices Fall For 7th Day

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire fell 1.2 cents today to $4.232, the seventh consecutive daily decrease after rising eight of the previous nine days.

The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties is 3.3 cents less than one week ago, but 6.7 cents more than a month ago and $1.105 greater than it was a year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price fell two-tenths of a cent on Saturday, three-tenths of a cent on Sunday, two-tenths of a cent on Monday, six-tenths of a cent on Tuesday, three-tenths of a cent Wednesday and a half-cent Thursday.

“Crude oil prices took a big tumble last week and California wholesale gasoline prices are now reportedly around $3.10 per gallon,” said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.

“The typical markup from wholesale prices is 60 to 70 cents, including taxes, fees, other costs and profits, so there’s lots of room for prices to drop substantially. However, it’s rare for gas prices to drop as quickly as they rise.”
