Indio Begins Prep Baseball Playoffs with Rout of Bloomington

The Rajahs have rediscovered their swagger. Indio blew up for 16 runs in a blowout of Bloomington on Wildcard Tuesday. Heading into the Division 4 C.I.F. playoffs, Indio had lost three straight games to end the regular season. Not exactly the streak you want to have when entering the postseason. However, the Rajahs regrouped under Head Coach Mark Brenner for one of their best offensive displays of the season. Their first round rout has earned them a date with No. 4 Laguna Beach on Thursday. The winner will advance to the Sweet 16.

Indio had been ranked as high as No. 6 in the Division 4 Top 10… before losing to Palm Springs and dropping a pair of games to La Quinta. The losses put them in 3rd place of the DVL and landed them in Tuesday’s wildcard game. Antonio Chavarria pitched a gem for Indio, giving up just one run.

FINAL SCORE: Indio 16, Bloomington 1

The Shadow Hills Knights earned their first ever playoff win as a baseball program on Tuesday. The Knights got a walk-off walk in the last inning to beat Aquinas 8 to 7. Shadow Hills will play on the road on Thursday, for a chance to play in the Division 5 Sweet 16.

FINAL SCORE: Shadow Hills 8, Aquinas 7
