3.6 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Idyllwild

A 3.6 magnitude earthquake shook an area of Southern California’s Riverside County early Tuesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake hit around 1:25 a.m. and was centered about 4 miles south-southwest of Idyllwild and 15 miles southwest of Palm Springs.

“I jumped right up!” MrsWednyC4 told @KESQ on Twitter. “It was like moving a shopping cart it, (except it) went one way only.”

More than 200 people reported feeling the earthquake in the Palm Springs and Palm Desert areas of the Coachella Valley.

There were no reports of damage or injuries.
