Schwarzenegger’s Mistress Speaks To British Tabloid

The longtime housekeeper who mothered a child with Arnold Schwarzenegger said in an interview published today that she didn’t realize the actor and former governor was her son’s father until he got older and began to look like him.

“It was as Joseph grew and I started to see the resemblance that I wondered — but it became more apparent as time went on,” Mildred Baena told the British magazine Hello!

“I knew Arnold was the father, and maybe as Joseph got older and began to look like him, he (Schwarzenegger) wondered. But he never said anything to me,” she said.

Schwarzenegger and wife Maria Shriver announced in May that they were separating after 25 years of marriage. The couple have four children.

The former governor admitted a short time after the separation became public that he had fathered a child with the couple’s longtime housekeeper.

Baena said the boy — who posed with his mother for a photo published in Hello! — wants to build a relationship with his father. She said when he learned who his father was, he said, “Cool!”

Baena also told the magazine she suspected that Shriver had figured out what happened.

“She would say things like, `I’m here if you need to talk,”‘ Baena said. “I sensed something was up. I have so much love and respect for Maria. Finally, she asked point blank.”

Baena said she was surprised by Shriver’s reaction when she admitted her now-13-year-old son was fathered by Schwarzenegger.

“She was so strong,” she said. “She cried with me and told me to get off my knees. We held each other and I told her it wasn’t Arnie’s fault, that it takes two.”
