Man Arrested After Heroin Falls Out Of His Pants

A Banning man was arrested today when several grams of heroin dropped out of his pants when he was approached by officers, police said.

Officers contacted Richard Figueroa, 29, at 12:22 a.m. in the 800 block of East Ramsey Street in Banning. While speaking to him, a substance that was later determined to be 8.7 grams of heroin fell from his pants leg, according to police.

Officers searched Figueroa’s vehicle and found six wrapped bundles of heroin, a mini-scale, a syringe, several small baggies and a glass pipe coated with methamphetamine residue, police said.

Figueroa was booked on suspicion of transporting and selling a controlled substance, possession of heroin, possession of methamphetamine and possession of instruments for smoking controlled substances, according to police.

Figueroa was being held in lieu of $25,000 bail. He was tentativesly scheduled to be arraigned Friday.
