La Quinta Woman’s Death Now Considered Homicide

A 70-year-old woman whose death was initially thought to have been accidental has been determined to have been the victim of a homicide, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Judy Munson was found dead in her La Quinta home in the 48100 block of Via Hermosa on June 11. Investigators initially pegged the death as accidental until the results of an autopsy came back two days later.

“The autopsy revealed injuries which were consistent with a homicide,” said sheriff’s homicide Sgt. Herman Lopez. “Investigators from the Indio Sheriff’s Station and the Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit were notified and assumed the investigation and are working all leads.”

The cause of death has not been announced.
