Power Sweep Doubleheader… Avenge Wednesday’s Loss to Azusa

The Palm Springs Power don’t like to lose. They made that very apparent with a doubleheader sweep of Azusa on Thursday, the same team that ended Palm Springs’ 11 game win streak the night before. The Power held on for a 4-3 victory in game one, then exploded for double-digit runs in a 10-4 follow up win. The Power have now won 13 of their last 14 games. They host the S.F. Seals at Palm Springs Stadium on Friday night with a 7:05 p.m. start.

Players to watch for:

Ryan Garvey: The son of Major League great Steve Garvey will play right field and see time at 1st base for the Power this summer. Garvey led the Palm Desert Aztecs to a C.I.F. runner-up finish during his senior season. He was drafted in the 15th round by the Philadelphia Phillies in this year’s MLB Amateur baseball draft. If Garvey opts to delay his pro career, he will attend USC on a full ride scholarship beginning this fall.
