Palm Springs 911 System Back In Operation

The City of Palm Springs reported an outage at its 911 emergency center on Monday, meaning dialing the number led to a busy signal..

Teams worked to address the problem, which was caused by a power outage, said city officials.

The outage hit roughly 1,226 customers in the Palm Springs area surrounded by Tahquitz, Mesquite, Compadre, and Gene Autry around midnight, according to Southern California Edison.

About half experienced an outage lasting 30 seconds. The other half saw their power return around 2 a.m.

Automated calls were placed to residents throughout Palm Springs alerting them of the 911 outage, and the temporary number they must use.

Full 911 service was restored by 9:30 a.m.
