Suspected Bank Robber Caught In Las Vegas

A La Quinta man suspected of robbing a bank is awaiting extradition to Riverside County today.

Thomas Tischler, 44, allegedly robbed a Bank of America branch June 17.

Riverside County Sheriff’s investigators tracked Tischler to Las Vegas, where he was arrested Tuesday with help from the FBI, sheriff’s Sgt. Mark Hoyt said.

Tischler was locked up in the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas, but is expected to be extradited to Riverside County to face a burglary charge.

The 44-year-old allegedly used a demand note during the heist at the bank, 78400 Highway 111, and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash, sheriff’s Sgt. Tony Baur said.

Court records indicate that Tischler spent time in state prison. His criminal record includes a guilty plea to a burglary charge and a conviction for possession of controlled substances.
