Power Rebound Against Seagulls
The POWER got back in the win column on Saturday night against the San Francisco Seagulls, scoring four runs in the third inning en route to a 9-3 decision.
Casey McCarthy got the starting nod for Palm Springs and threw seven innings, striking out seven and walking one. He surrendered only one earned run to pick up his fifth win against no losses this season.
Ryan Santhon came on in relief in the eighth with two on and nobody out, and retired all three batters he faced to escape the jam. Tony Guerra pitched the ninth for the POWER in the victory over the boys from Northern California.
Carney Chamberlain, Zach Haley, David Kiriakos and Ryan Jones all doubled in the third when the POWER erupted for four runs. Marcus Romero also singled in the frame.
Jones led off the sixth inning with a monster shot to right field, his first homerun of the season. The POWER added one in the seventh and three in the eighth for added insurance. A Kiriakos single in that inning drove in two for the POWER, who improved their overall season record to 33-4.
The POWER will finish the three-game series versus the San Francisco Seagulls on Sunday at 7:05 p.m., with the gates opening at 6:00 p.m. All POWER games can be heard live on www.PSPBB.com, with select games simulcast on NewsTalk 920 KPSI Palm Springs.
