Future Of Desert Fashion Plaza Dominates Council Agenda
Calling the Desert Fashion Plaza the top priority for the city of Palm Springs, Mayor Steve Pougnet urged residents to attend Wednesday’s city council meeting to learn more about the city’s plan for the structure.
Pougnet issued the call to residents on Tuesday as council members prepared for more discussion on the future of the mall in downtown, which has set empty and locked up for years.
“The future of Desert Fashion Plaza is the top priority for the City of Palm Springs,” said Pougnet. “The city council invites anyone interested in the proposed plan for this key property in our downtown core to attend this important meeting.”
“I’m looking forward to having a lively, vibrant mall. I really believe it’s going to happen,” said Luciano Ramirez, who owns a bookstore in the mall, Latino Books Y Mas.
Wednesday’s meeting is slated for 6 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall, 3200 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way. Residents can watch it live on Palm Springs Community Television Channel 17 or on Time/Warner Cable 121.
It can also be viewed online at www.palmspringsca.gov by clicking on Government and then Palm Springs Community Television.
