Small Earthquake Shakes Area Southwest Of Salton Sea

A 3.9-magnitude earthquake struck eastern San Diego County early today, according to a preliminary report from the U.S. Geological Survey.

The temblor struck at 2:08 a.m. at a depth of 3.7 miles and was centered 21 miles east of Pine Valley, according to the computer-generated USGS report.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injury, said San Diego County sheriff’s Lt. Jim Walker.
