Family Releases Photos of Desert Hot Springs Boy

Family members of the 5-year-old boy, who was hit and killed by a car last week, are now preparing to say their goodbyes. Sebastian Parada was pulled off life support at Loma Linda Medical Center last week. The Parada family has set up a memorial fund to help pay for the boy’s funeral. The boy wasn’t wearing a helmet when he crossed the street on his bike to get to his mobile home park, police said. The driver stayed on at the scene and cooperated with a police investigation. He did not appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, officers said. Parada isn’t the first to lose his life because of traffic at that intersection. Across the street, Carissa Nwene died after she was hit by a van and left for dead in 2007. She was walking to school. After the death of Nwene, the city added a sidewalk to one side of the road. Now in wake of Parada’s death, the city plans to add a traffic light at the corner of Palm Drive and Camino Campanero. To help with funeral arrangements, donate at any Wells Fargo bank.bank.
