Martha’s Village & Kitchen Needs Your Help!

(CNS) – Indio nonprofit Martha’s Village & Kitchen is collecting food, diapers and baby formula donations throughout the Coachella Valley through August 8.

Martha’s is seeking donations of canned goods, bags of rice, dry pasta and beans, soup stock, cooking oil, diapers sizes 4-6, and formula.

The following businesses have collection barrels:

The Wells Fargo branches in Bermuda Dunes, Coachella, Indio, La Quinta, Palm Desert, and Rancho Mirage. Albertsons in Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage and Palm Springs. And Stater Bros. at 81-056 Highway 111 in Indio.

According to Blair Amidei, the nonprofit’s development director, items for more than 140 food boxes has been collected so far. “We’re proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish so far, but we’re looking forward to doing much more before the drive closes,” he said.

Martha’s Village & Kitchen is the largest provider of comprehensive homeless services in Riverside County, according to the organization. Martha’s provides transitional housing for single adults and families, drug and alcohol counseling, job skills and career training, a continuing education program, on-site medical care and children’s services. Martha’s also offers emergency services such as food boxes, clothing vouchers, infant supplies, utility, transportation and rent assistance and a daily public meal.
