Two Arrested After Indio Police Chase

A man and woman were taken into custody today following a chase of a stolen car which began in Indio and ended when it crashed into a six- foot construction fence, authorities said.

Indio police officers located a stolen 1992 red two-door Honda Prelude at Avenue 48 and Calhoun Street at 3:42 p.m., according to Indio police.

When officers tried to stop the vehicle, a chase ensued, which led officers to an unincorporated area between Indio and Coachella, and ended in a construction area at Van Buren and Manila streets.

Felix Javier Lopez, 31, and Elizabeth Felix Hernandez, 29, both of Indio, tried to escape on foot but were quickly arrested.

The car was reported stolen at 4:30 a.m.
