Teen Accused Of Stealing TV Sets To Appear In Court

A 19-year-old man suspected of stealing flat-screen television sets from seven unoccupied units at a Palm Desert condominium complex is expected in court today.

The residential burglaries at the Shadow Mountain Resort in the 45700 block of San Luis Rey Avenue were reported on July 22, sheriff’s Sgt. Andrew Nielsen said.

The investigation into the TV thefts led to the arrest of 19-year-old Coachella resident Omar Avila Sanchez at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday. He was taken into custody after a search warrant was served at his residence, where investigators recovered two of the seven TVs, Nielsen said.

Sanchez is being held in the Indio Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail, with arraignment on felony residential burglary charges expected today at Larson Justice Center in Indio.

Anyone with information on the burglaries was asked to call the Palm Desert Riverside County Sheriff’s station at (760) 836-1600 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting (760) 836-1600 or Coachella Valley Crime Stoppers at (760) 341-7867.
