Wanted Parolee Evades Police

A wanted parolee from Indio remains on the run, after leading police on a chase in the East Valley Saturday night. It began around 7:30 p.m. when police began following a driver along Harrison Street in Thermal, eventually taking officers into Coachella.

Police had tracked down 34 year-old Jose Tinoco, a suspect in a case involving an assault with a deadly weapon, believing he was a passenger in the car being followed by officers.

Officers say when the chase got to the intersection of Shady Lane and Valley, Tinoco and another man jumped out of the car and took off running. A search ended with police empty handed.

The driver, 21 year-old Arturo Alcocer of Indio, kept going and crashed into a parked vehicle.

Police arrested him, after he was treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital.
