Palm Springs Police Arrest Man Sought In Denver Murders
A man was in custody today after a patron at a Palm Springs bar recognized him as a “`person of interest” in a Denver double murder case, police reported.
Daryl Rasmussen, 55, was booked at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on two no-bail warrants — for a parole violation in Austin, Texas, and a probation violation in a counterfeiting case in Savannah, Ga., said Palm Springs police Sgt. Troy Castillo.
Rasmussen was arrested at the Score Bar, 301 E. Arenas Road, shortly before 10 p.m. Monday after a man in the tavern called police, saying he recognized Rasmussen from television news reports he saw in Denver, the sergeant said.
Those reports announced the search for Rasmussen who police believed could be connected to two murders.
On Feb.11, members of the Denver Police Department said they found the bodies of Ronald Thomas Ford, 63, and Ramiro “Rome” Sanchez, 55. Both men died from blunt force trauma.
Detectives learned that Daryl Rasmussen, 55, a cross-dresser also known as “Ms. Puppy,” lived with the victims.
News reports from Denver indicated Rasmussen was homeless and had been taken in by the victims about three months before they were killed.
Colorado police were making plans on Tuesday to travel to the Coachella Valley to question Rasmussen.
