Cathedral City Police Investigate Near-Deadly Accident Near City Center

Cathedral City police are looking for any information that may lead them to the identity of a juvenile female who was hit by a car on East Palm Canyon Drive late Thursday night.

Sgt. C. de Veas said the accident was reported at 10:15 p.m. near the intersection of Buddy Rogers Avenue, where officers found the girl ying in the middle of the road, barely conscious.

Paramedics rushed her to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, where she was listed in critical condition.

The driver of the car did not show any signs of driving under the influence, nor did witnesses say he appeared to be speeding.

Instead, they told police the underage, Hispanic girl, who appeared to have been drinking or under the influence of drugs, had been jaywalking when she was hit by the car.

Both the driver and victim’s names are being held private while the investigation continues, de Veas said.

If anyone has any information regarding this incident please call the Cathedral City Police Department at 760-770-0303.
