Alert Issued For Missing Calif. Toddler
Authorities asked for the public’s help Friday in tracking down a 2-year-old California girl who the FBI says was abducted by her father.
An Amber Alert was issued Friday for Madeline Samaan-Fay, who was last seen around 9 a.m. five days earlier in Sacramento, California.
The FBI said in a press release that the girl was taken by Mourad “Moni” Samaan, 49, a U.S. citizen born in Egypt. The federal agency called the circumstances of the abduction “particularly concerning,” adding that officials have reason to believe that the child’s life may be in danger.
“In spite of extraordinary efforts by our field agents and local law enforcement, we have been unable to develop any leads on the whereabouts of the child or her father since this Saturday,” said Sacramento-based Special Agent in Charge Herbert M. Brown.
The suspected abductor is known to drive a green Toyota 4Runner with a California license plate, the FBI said.
The FBI is working on the case along with members of the Sacramento Police Department, the Sacramento County Sheriff, the California Highway Patrol and the California Department of Justice, according to Brown.
The girl has brown hair and brown eyes, weighs about 28 pounds and stands 2 feet, 8 inches tall, according to the Amber Alert.
Her father — the suspect — is 5 feet, 6 inches tall; weighs approximately 160 pounds; and has black hair and brown eyes. He’s thought to be an accomplished Spanish speaker.
“We request the public call us at (916) 481-9110 if they see the car, Mr. Samaan, or have any information to assist us,” said Brown.
