Hikers Taken To Hospital As Temps Surpass 100 Degrees

Two hikers were taken to a nearby hospital on Monday after they reported not feeling well while hiking above Desert Hot Springs.

Sheriff’s deputies said they received the distress call around 12:45 p.m. from one of the hikers. He had hiked down the hillside in order to get cell service near the intersection of Highway 62 and Indian Canyon.

Both hikers were dehydrated, deputies said, and were taken to the hospital to be evaluated by doctors.

Temperatures in the Desert Hot Springs area at the time were 100-degrees.

Rescue crews advise hikers who challenge themselves in the warm temperatures to bring plenty of water.
