Caltrans Expands Amtrak Bus Service In Coachella Valley

Traveling to the desert just got better aboard Amtrak California, according to company officials.

Caltrans announced on Wednesday they have broadened the Amtrak California Thruway bus service from Bakersfield to Palm Springs to include three new prime desert destinations:

Cabazon – The Cabazon stop is at the Morongo Casino Hotel, Resort and Spa, 49500 Seminole Drive.

Palm Desert – The Palm Desert stop is at the Palm Desert Westfield Shoppingtown, 72-840 Highway 111.

La Quinta – The La Quinta stop is at the La Quinta Town Center, Highway 111 and Adams.

Thruway Bus service is provided exclusively to train passengers as an extension of Amtrak California’s train service to destinations where trains cannot operate, company leaders said..

“Expanding our Amtrak California Thruway Bus service provides train passengers a more convenient way to travel to and from these popular areas and enjoy the entertainment, recreation, and shopping they offer,” said Acting Caltrans Director Malcolm Dougherty.

Travel to and from these desert “hot spots” via the Thruway Bus is available twice daily, seven days a week.

The Thruway Bus also stops in La Crescenta, Pasadena, Claremont, Ontario, Riverside, San Bernardino, Palm Springs, Indio, Moreno Valley, Perris, and Sun City.
