La Quinta Teen Arrested Hours After Jail Release
An 18-year-old suspect in the armed robbery of a U.S. Postal Service letter carrier was arrested today by Indio police officers, the same day he was released from jail on an earlier misdemeanor charge.
Antonio Martin Jimenez of La Quinta was arrested at the Vintage Palms Apartment at 82-435 Requa St. sometime after 12:30 p.m. for the armed robbery of a postal worker who was delivering mail at that apartment complex, according to the Indio police.
Jimenez allegedly simulated having a gun under his clothing and threatened the mailman into handing over his wallet to the suspect, according to police.
Officers responded to the apartment complex and began a search of the building. Jimenez was discovered in one of the apartments and peacefully taken into custody. The mailman’s wallet was recovered from Jimenez, according to police.
Jimenez, who was booked into the Riverside County Sheriff’s jail in Indio on a robbery charge and a charge of receiving stolen property, is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail, according to Riverside County jail records.
Jimenez’s arrest came the same day he was released from jail on an earlier misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct involving drugs and alcohol, according to jail records.
