Spencer Linton is Sports Director at KESQ-TV / KDFX-TV and anchors sports for News Channel 3 at 6:00 PM, 6:30 PM, 10:00 PM, and 11:00 PM. Spencer came to the desert in July of 2010. Before that, he worked as Sports Director at KJCT -TV in Grand Junction, Colorado. He is ecstatic to work in Southern California with all it has to offer.

Spencer officially became interested in sports broadcasting when he was nine years old . He visited a TV station in Salt Lake City, Utah and decided he wanted to be a sportscaster.

Sixteen years later, he got his first taste of the business. Spencer attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah where he received a BA in Communications. At BYU, he served as a weekday Sports Anchor/Reporter for the BYU Daily News and interned with the award-winning sports team from KSL-TV in Salt Lake City. He also hosted and co-produced a 30-minute local sports show for i-Provo cable called “Sports Valley.”

Spencer’s desire to become a sports broadcaster stems from a deep interest in playing and watching sports.

“I’ve spent most of my life surrounded by sports, so I figured why not turn something I love into a job.” Spencer has an array of memorable broadcast experiences, but one of his favorite moments took place in Lexington, Kentucky, when he first covered the NCAA Basketball Tournament (March Madness).

Believe it or not, Spencer has a life outside of sports. His favorite things to do away from work include relaxing with his family, traveling, listening to music, singing, going for a drive, and socializing with friends.
