Palm Desert Man Behind Bars After Standoff With Police
A man who violated a restraining order by forcing his way into a woman’s residence with a firearm is behind bars today.
Daniel Brockman, 43, of Palm Desert was arrested around 4 p.m. Thursday when police, responding to a woman’s report of a disturbance, entered her home in the 73000 block of Rancho Road. The woman said Brockman had forced his way in, violating a domestic violence restraining order, Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Darin Oliver said.
Oliver did not disclose how Brockman and the woman knew each.
He said deputies tried to reach Brockman by telephone and public address system. Unable to contact him, they forced their way in and arrested him after a brief struggle and use of a police service dog, Oliver said.
Brockman was booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio for two counts of violation of a domestic violence restraining order and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail and is expected to be arraigned Monday at the Larson Justice Center in Indio.
