Classic, Antique Cars Auctioned Off In Palm Springs
About 700 antique and other vehicles are expected to be auctioned in downtown Palm Springs, beginning today and continuing into Sunday.
The bi-annual McCormick’s Exotic Car Auction — which starts at 3 p.m. today — features antique, classic, exotic, muscle, sports and special interest vehicles valued at more than $15 million, Palm Springs city spokeswoman Amy Blaisdell said.
This year, the auction was expanded to include 100 cars on Friday and an additional 480 on Saturday and Sunday, Blaisdell said.
“We’ve been hosting this auction for 25 years now, and we’re always looking for ways to make things even better for buyers and sellers,” said founder and owner Keith McCormick. “This year will be better than ever.”
Among this year’s entries is a lavender-gray 1951 Jaguar Mark V DHC valued at $150,000, McCormick said.
The auction is a “much-loved Palm Springs tourist attraction, draws buyers and sellers from overseas, across the country and from the Coachella Valley,” Blaisdell said. “Some come to buy, some come to sell, and others come to get an up-close look at classic American cars that include the GTO, GTX, Corvette, Shelby Cobra, Ford Mustang and other vintage cars like Bentley and Rolls Royce.”
