Prep Hoops: Arabs Rout Rival Rams for 3rd Place Finish in Desert Tourney
The Coachella Valley Arabs eeked out a 1-point win the first time they met geographic rival Desert Mirage this season. On Friday, C.V. made it clear they wanted no part of a close game when they met the Rams in a rematch at the Max Preps Holiday Classic.
The Arabs opened the game on a 15-0 run, and were never really threatened by the young Rams. Coachella’s dominating performance got a jump start from Julio Ayon. The guard knocked down two big three pointers in the first quarter to spark the C.V. run.
Coachella’s 55-31 win gave them a somewhat gratifying, third-place finish at the holiday tournament. The Arabs hope that momentum will roll into the new year when Desert Valley League play opens (Jan. 3rd).
