Riverside Co. Solider Dies In Afghanistan

A solider from Lake Elsinore has been killed in action after his unit was attacked with an improvised explosive device.

The governor’s office announced the death of Sgt. Noah Korte, 29, on Tuesday, requesting all flags in the state be flown at half staff.

“On behalf of all Californians, Governor Brown and First Lady Anne Gust Brown honor Sgt. Noah M. Korte, who bravely gave his life in service to our state and nation,” the announcement read.

Korte was assigned to the 720th Military Police Battalion, 89th Military Police Brigade, in Fort Hood, Tex., as Operation Enduring Freedom.

He is survived by his wife Kristi and his son.
